Studio Sessions Webinar Series: Writing Professional Proposals

Studio Sessions Webinars for Artists
Learn how to write professional proposals from home!

Dates: Wednesday, February 19, 26 and March 4, 6 – 7pm AT

This three-part online workshop series focuses on the essentials of writing professional proposals. Each one hour session will allow artists from across the country to learn best practices of proposal writing – all from the comfort of their home or studio. Presented by Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS), the series will be instructed by gallery director and artist Melanie Colosimo.

Getting Organized
Many calls for submissions are looking for the same things but in an annoyingly different format. In this webinar we cover how keeping a well-organized personal archive of your support material and writing will help so that you’re not reinventing the wheel each time (February 19).

Start Writing
In this webinar we will discuss preparing your proposal and take a closer look at artist statements. We’ll look at exhibition proposal packages, grants and residencies and how to tailor your writing for each application (February 26).

CVs, Budgets and Where to Apply
We’ll go over the long format and short format CVs and what is appropriate to include. We’ll take a quick look at budgets and wrap up with where you can find opportunities, and how to pick the right one for you (March 4).

Individual webinars will be available to VANS members for $18, and $28 for non-members. Members can register for all three webinars for $45, and non-members can register for all three for $75. Complete descriptions and registration information can be found on the VANS Workshops page.

Let’s be honest, it’s hard to get motivated to travel in winter weather to attend a workshop. This webinar series is short, jam-packed with great information and you can learn without leaving your home or studio. A recording of each webinar will be made available to participants to refer back to when needed.
