Coloured Bodies: Material Moves by Dori Vanderheyden
April 10 – 21
Opening: Thursday, April 11, 6 – 10 pm
Artist Talk: Saturday April 13, 2 – 4 pm
Propeller Gallery, Toronto
This installation work is the culmination of Vanderheyden’s graduate work for the Interdisciplinary Art, Media and Design MFA, at OCAD University. Her work layers and enfolds themes of sexuality, the body and colour as a way to evoke questions of what it means to be a human in the universe at this time. The evocative qualities of light emitting fluorescent plexiglass were considered as a material body alongside the material human body to negotiate the meaning of relationships between all bodies, human and non-human.
